GWAR: New Video Interview With DAVE BROCKIE
April 25, 2012The Iron Forge recently conducted an interview with GWAR frontman Dave Brockie (a.k.a. Oderus Urungus). You can now watch the chat below.
GWAR has been confirmed to headline the New York Zombie Prom on June 9 at Irving Plaza in New York City. GWAR will close the event, which also features a pageant of the undead and a killer raffle for an original full page drawing from "The Walking Dead" comic book series. Half of the proceeds from the raffle will benefit The Smoot Family Fund.
GWAR's upcoming CD will be a tribute to their fallen bandmate and friend Cory Smoot, a.k.a. Flattus Maximus, who was found dead as GWAR was about to enter Canada on November 3, 2011. He was 34 years old.
GWAR returned to the road last month on the second leg of their "Return Of The World Maggot Tour". The trek kicked off with a special tribute show for Cory Smoot in Richmond, Virginia, at The National Theater on Friday, March 16. All proceeds from the Richmond show went to the Smoot Family Fund which has been established to help support Cory's widow and their unborn child. Support on this run came from fellow Richmond metallers MUNICIPAL WASTE, and California's GHOUL.
GWAR's latest album, "Bloody Pit Of Horror", sold around 2,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The band's previous CD, "Lust In Space", opened with 5,000 units to debut at position No. 96 on The Billboard 200 chart.
